FILM FESTIVALS

THE WILLIAMSBURG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The Williamsburg International Film Festival September 22-25, 2011

“This spot is special and helps create a welcoming, cordial, homecoming vibe to the Festival,” says Floyd Rance, one of the organizers.  Hundreds of people attended the Festival events which included an opening night Champagne and White Linen Reception, a Director’s Brunch sponsored by Macy’s, a free screening of Tinker Bell presented by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, a panel discussion, and the screening of 46 films. Word spread quickly on the island that the Festival had returned and the majority of films were viewed by standing-room audiences. Some audience favorites such as Freedom Riders had to be screened twice. The Festival has grown exponentially over the last eight years from an intimate gathering of the Rance’s friends to an event that has attracted DelRoy Lindo, Ben Vereen, Jeffrey Wright, Reginald Hudlin and Charles Ogletree. “It has been a fertile ground for new talent and a door opener for many aspiring filmmakers since its inception in 2003,” Rance says.
